terms of service

last updated: 12 July 2026

These terms govern your use of Join the Rat Race (“the service”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

1. What the service does

The service analyses your CV and job postings you submit, then estimates how well you match each role. Scores, flags, and summaries are generated in part by AI models and are opinions, not facts. They may be wrong. Nothing on the service is careers, legal, or financial advice, and a score is not a promise that an employer will (or won’t) hire you.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.

3. Content you submit

You retain ownership of your CV and anything else you upload. You grant us the licence needed to store and process that content solely to operate the service — including sending relevant parts to the third-party providers described in our privacy policy (AI model providers and a web-scraping proxy).

You are responsible for the URLs you submit for scraping. Only submit links to publicly available job postings you are entitled to access. Do not submit URLs to bypass access controls, scrape sites whose terms forbid it, or target systems you do not have permission to fetch.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for anything unlawful, or upload content that is malicious or infringes someone else’s rights
  • probe, overload, or disrupt the service, or attempt to access other users’ data
  • resell, scrape, or bulk-extract the service or its output without our written permission
  • circumvent usage limits or submit content designed to manipulate the AI processing

5. Availability and changes

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. It is an early-stage product: features may change, break, or be removed, and we may suspend or discontinue the service. We may update these terms; if we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you, and continued use after changes means you accept them.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost opportunities (including job opportunities), or loss of data arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (currently nil for free accounts).

7. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. On deletion, your data is removed as described in the privacy policy.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — though if you are a consumer you keep any mandatory protections of the country you live in.
